Special Effects and Production Design
Special Effects
Realism and Immersion: The special effects in “Crew” play a critical role in creating a believable and immersive experience. The film’s depiction of the in-flight crisis is achieved through a combination of practical effects and state-of-the-art CGI, seamlessly integrated to enhance the realism of the unfolding events.
Storm and Turbulence: One of the standout elements is the portrayal of the severe storm that the plane encounters. The effects team has meticulously crafted the turbulent weather, complete with realistic lightning strikes, heavy rain, and violent wind shear. The storm sequences are both visually stunning and viscerally thrilling, capturing the chaos and danger faced by the crew and passengers.
Mechanical Malfunctions: The depiction of the plane’s technical failures, including failing instruments and electrical malfunctions, is handled with precision. The special effects convincingly simulate the malfunctions, adding to the tension and urgency of the situation. These effects are grounded in reality, avoiding exaggeration and maintaining the film’s credibility.
Emergency Situations: The movie also features a variety of emergency scenarios, such as depressurization and fire hazards. The special effects team has created realistic representations of these dangers, using a mix of practical effects, like controlled explosions and smoke, and CGI enhancements. These effects contribute to the overall sense of peril and heighten the stakes for the characters.
Production Design
Aircraft Interior: The production design team has constructed an incredibly detailed and authentic replica of an airplane interior. Every aspect, from the cockpit to the passenger cabin and the crew rest areas, is meticulously designed to mirror the real environment of a commercial aircraft. This attention to detail enhances the film’s authenticity and helps immerse the audience in the story.
Set Design and Layout: The layout of the aircraft set is designed to facilitate dynamic camera movements and create a sense of claustrophobia. The narrow aisles, compact seating, and confined spaces are utilized effectively to amplify the tension and make the viewer feel the constraints of the setting.
Visual Consistency: The film maintains a consistent visual style throughout, with the production design supporting the narrative’s progression. The clean, controlled environment of the plane at the beginning contrasts sharply with the chaos that ensues, visually representing the shift in the storyline. The set design evolves to reflect the deteriorating conditions, with debris, damaged panels, and flickering lights adding to the sense of urgency.
Attention to Detail: Small details, such as the branding on the aircraft, the design of the flight attendant uniforms, and the emergency equipment, are all carefully considered. These elements contribute to the overall believability of the setting and demonstrate the production team’s commitment to creating an authentic experience.
Sound Design and Score: Complementing the visual effects and production design is the film’s sound design and musical score. The sound design accurately captures the ambient noises of an aircraft, from the hum of the engines to the announcements over the PA system. During the crisis, the soundscape becomes more intense, with the roar of the storm, the creaking of the plane, and the alarms creating an immersive auditory experience. The musical score, composed to heighten the emotional impact, underscores the tension and drama, adding another layer to the film’s atmosphere.
Overall Impact: The special effects and production design of “Crew” work in harmony to create a gripping and immersive experience. The realistic portrayal of the in-flight crisis, combined with the authentic aircraft set, ensures that the audience is fully engaged and invested in the story. With its witty dialogue, captivating storyline, and brilliant ensemble cast, “Crew” offers a delightful cinematic experience that will leave viewers entertained and uplifted. It’s a must-watch for those seeking a dose of laughter and heartwarming moments on the big screen.Movie is good at all everyone gives false reviews in my point of view you can enjoy this film don’t miss this I’ve watched this in theatre and recently watched in ott.Don’t miss this movie it’s really good to watchable atleast one timeI'll give 4/5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐Shalini SehgalWatched Crew/क्रू yesterday, yes its pronounced as क्रू & not as क्रीयू! The casting & the trailer had escalated my expectations but the movie was such a let down!I will advise to watch this with friends. I went with my 20 year old daughter & believe me there were so many awkward moments 🙈. Many a times I was thinking “is she understanding iska matalab” (which am sure she must have😄) but the mother in me controlled my expressions & reactions (maybe she was also behaving the same way since she was watching with her mom). Had I gone to watch this movie with my gal pals, then maybe I would have enjoyed the movie more ( & may be daughter was also thinking the same ; LOL ) Company matters you see. The movie is about work place camaraderie, colleagues who are like family, friendship etc . The plot of the movie is terrific but the execution falls flat. There’s was so much scope to make this plot into a superb movie but alas. The three beautiful divas looked absolutely stunning and gorgeous. They delivered their best & special mention for Trupti Khamkar, she was too good with her comic timing. Kapil Sharma was such a letdown, someone plz ask him to stop acting, its not his forte; that too as Tabu’s husband!! Diljit hamesha dil jeet lete hain, he is a sweetheart. Kareena is a stunner & Tabu is aging like fine wine. What I liked the most about the movie was its screentime ; around two hours. Its a one time watch , that too if u leave your brain to rest especially post interval. Don’t look for logic, enjoy the turbulent journey with the beautiful ladies.Am sure the movie will do brisk business because glamour sells 🙂Anurupa GhoshMovie Review: Crew: After seeing the trailer of this movie I decided to go and watch it at PVR since it didn’t seem like a stereotype romantic movie or a one man army show. The movie comes across as a breather with an interesting plot which was executed fairly well by the starcast. The three evergreen and beautiful divas of the silver screen, Tabu, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Kriti Sanon, performed their roles convincingly. The movie was was also directed well by director, Rajesh Krishnan. The story revolves around the lives of Geeta Sethi ( Tabu), Jasmine Kohli (Kareena) and Divya Rana (Kriti) who are cabin crew and air hostess in Kohinoor Airlines, which is making losses. Somehow they find out that money is being smuggled through the airlines. They decide to be a part of it since, the airlines was doing not well, for months their salaries were getting held. In their pursuit to earn golden biscuits, they nearly get caught, but Diljit Dosanjh, playing the role of custom officer (Jaiveer Singh), who is smitten by Divya, lets them off thinking them to be innocent. But soon the trio realise they should expose the truth behind smuggling gold biscuits, of which the owner of Kohinoor Airlines, Mr Vijay Walia, happens to be the kingpin. Eventually through meticulously crafted plan and acumen, the three expose the owner of the airlines and earn themselves kudos and good name. A one time watch, and a feel good movie, it shines despite an unrealistic and fictitious storyline. I’ll give this movie 3 out of 5 ⭐.
